The City of Florence has announced the return of its Public Works Academy for a second year. The program is set to run from June 9 to July 25, 2025, offering participants practical experience and skills development in public works over seven weeks.
Participants will have the opportunity to earn OSHA 10 and CPR/AED certifications. Training will cover various areas including concrete work, storm sewer piping, water sampling, framing and installation of a pergola at a city park, landscaping, and emergency vehicle maintenance. Additionally, there will be opportunities for resume-building and mock interviews.
The academy offers flexible work schedules with options from Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday. Both schedules include one week off for planned vacations.
"This is a great career-building opportunity for individuals looking to work in public infrastructure, construction, or municipal services," stated the announcement.
