The City of Florence is set to host the Book & Literacy Festival, featuring two events focused on celebrating reading and storytelling. The festival will commence with the Books & Bottles Evening Program on Friday, February 28, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Florence Nature Park Event Center. This will be followed by a Free Children's Program on Saturday, March 1, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the same venue.
The Books & Bottles Evening Program presents an opportunity for book enthusiasts to enjoy literature, conversation, and refreshments. The event will include keynote speeches by authors Ashleigh DuBois, known for "Yes, but I Still Have Joy," and Patricia McLinn, author of the Secret Sleuth series. Attendees can look forward to small bites and discussions along with access to a cash bar. Tickets are priced at $15 and require prior registration through Eventbrite.
Families and young readers are encouraged to attend the Free Children's Program on March 1. The morning's activities include Author Storytime with Brittany Thurman and Gin Spaulding, a Puppet Show by River City Puppets, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library hosted by Boone County Public Library. This program is free for all attendees.
