Thomas Massie, the representative from Kentucky's 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has expressed his views on recent political and policy issues through a series of tweets. Massie, who has been serving in Congress since 2012 after replacing Geoff Davis, utilizes social media to communicate directly with the public.
On April 11, 2025, Massie responded to a comment about budget concerns, stating, “We voted for Trump, so rubber stamp these budgets Massie!” You did not vote for $2.5 trillion annual deficits for as far as the eye can see, unless you voted for Biden.” This comment reflects his criticism of the current fiscal policies associated with the budget deficits under President Biden's administration.
In an early morning tweet on April 12, 2025, Massie questioned the necessity of certain federal identification measures by asking, "If 'Real ID' actually proves who people are, why do we need E-verify? " Here, Massie interrogates the redundancy between Real ID and the E-verify system.
Later the same day, Massie elaborated on his stance regarding the Real ID Act by arguing against its efficacy in preventing terrorism. He posted, "Real ID isn’t needed and won’t stop terrorists from hijacking planes. Most of the 9/11 hijackers held Saudi, UAE, Egyptian, or Lebanese passports. Real ID is a national standard and database of IDs that is primarily a tool for control of Americans. Trump shouldn’t enforce it.” This tweet reflects his concern about privacy and government control, questioning the act's practical implications.
Thomas Massie, a native of Huntington, West Virginia and an MIT graduate, highlights his continued focus on federal fiscal responsibility and personal privacy issues through these statements.
