Thomas Massie, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky's 4th district, has voiced his opposition to recent legislative measures and actions taken by Congress in a series of tweets. Elected in 2012, Massie has a background in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His recent remarks highlight his stance on issues concerning congressional processes and fiscal policy.

On April 9, 2025, Massie expressed his disagreement with a resolution in Congress, noting, "He did this a few weeks ago. I was the only Republican to vote against this. They’re doing it again today. Most of my colleagues here don’t even know that they’re voting to do this when they vote for this resolution later today." This statement suggests frustrations with the procedural knowledge and awareness of his peers within the legislative body.

Later the same day, Massie commented on the potential bypassing of a legal requirement, tweeting, "When is a day not a day?...This passed with only three of us Republicans dissenting. It means there will be no House votes on tariffs. Did we learn nothing from COVID?" He highlighted concerns about the handling of presidential national emergencies and the implications of the legislation.

On April 10, 2025, Massie addressed the financial strategies of Congress, stating, "If you were trying to hasten financial collapse of our country and bribe voters to go along with it, the strategy wouldn’t look much different than what Congress is doing today." His critique focused on a bill that cuts taxes while maintaining spending levels, which he sees as untenable for the country.

Massie known for his engineering background and tenure since 2012, graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993. He has been an influential voice on fiscal and procedural issues within the legislative branch during his time representing Kentucky's 4th District.
