Covington, Kentucky experienced a year of transformation and progress in 2024, as highlighted by the city's annual review. The most significant development was the commencement of work on the 23-acre former IRS site, which is set to become a mixed-use neighborhood featuring homes, condos, retail shops, and offices.
In efforts to preserve its historical heritage, Covington took legal steps to protect the home of artist Frank Duveneck. Meanwhile, construction began on a new City Hall building for the first time in five decades.
The city received international attention when a social media channel's video about Covington's redevelopment vision attracted nearly 465K views and 800 comments. Covington's Small Business Program continued supporting local businesses with incentives for rent and façade improvements.
Economic achievements included creating or retaining 969 jobs and leveraging $55.9 million in private investments. Additionally, new parking signs and interactive kiosks were installed to enhance tourist navigation.

Public safety initiatives saw advancements with community programs launched by both the Fire Department and Police Department to strengthen ties with residents.
Covington received several accolades throughout the year: Money magazine named it one of the "50 Best Places to Live in the U.S." The Police Department was recognized as "Public Safety Department of the Year," while other departments earned awards for their contributions.
