The City of Florence is set to commence the holiday season with its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on December 3, 2024. The event will take place at the Florence Government Center located at 8100 Ewing Blvd., Florence, Kentucky. This free event is open to families and will start at 5:00 p.m., culminating in a tree lighting ceremony at 7:00 p.m.

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with various festive activities. These include free photos with Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus, children’s crafts, letter writing to Santa, face painting, a train display, and balloon art. The Public Services Department has created beautifully lit outdoor displays to enhance the holiday atmosphere as the Florence Community Band provides seasonal music. Complimentary popcorn and hot cocoa will be available for guests.

An announcement of the Christmas Card Contest winners will also take place during the event. Children from grades 1-8 are encouraged to submit their artistic entries by November 26 to the Administration Department at the same address. All submitted cards will be shared with local seniors, and prizes will be awarded for first through third places along with a special Mayor’s Choice award. Mayor Aubuchon is scheduled to recognize these winners during the celebration.

The evening's highlight will be Mayor Aubuchon lighting up the Christmas tree while accompanied by music from the Florence Community Band playing popular holiday tunes. This occasion marks one of Florence's most beloved traditions.
