When Money magazine selected Covington as one of the “50 Best Places to Live in the U.S.” earlier this year, Realtors® in Northern Kentucky took notice.

The magazine, which releases its list of the best places to live on an annual basis, included Covington among its 2024 honorees based on the city’s affordability, home prices, culture, and quality of life.

“Covington has one of the lowest median home listing prices on our list of Best Places to Live, making it an affordable place to put down roots,” the magazine stated in its April 2024 issue.

Local real estate agents hope to parlay that national recognition and affordability into home sales with a weekend-long event featuring Covington homes currently on the market.

The Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors’ “Covington Open House Weekend” encourages realtors who have listings in the city to hold an open house on Sept. 14-15, so potential homebuyers who want to live in one of the country’s “50 Best Cities to Live” will find a home in The Cov. The event coincides with the city’s Oktoberfest and further celebrates the “Best Place to Live” recognition.

“We’re thrilled about the Covington Weekend Open House and encourage everyone in the market for a new home to come see the myriad reasons we all ‘LoveTheCov’ and, hopefully, choose to put down roots here,” Covington Economic Development Director Tom West said. “Being named to Money magazine’s list is a big deal, and it’s great to have NKAR help us celebrate that recognition with this event.”

Jessica Hurley, President of the Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors, said it was exciting to have Covington among the two Kentucky cities selected by the magazine for the esteemed recognition (the other city being Lexington).

“We are excited to have Covington as one of the two cities in Kentucky named as a Best Place Live by Money Magazine in our local jurisdiction,” said Hurley. “Based on Money magazine’s criteria, they consider Covington to have a thriving economy, affordability, diversity and an exceptional quality of life. These are all things potential homeowners look for when making their housing selection. Congratulations to Covington on this prestigious designation.”

To find available homes in Covington, visit the NKAR website for the Northern Kentucky MLS data source and enter “Covington” as the search location.
