The City of Florence will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Stringtown Park, located at 7340 Burlington Pike in Florence.
Arbor Day acknowledges the essential role trees play in the environment and quality of life. The City of Florence was named a 2023 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, marking its 32nd consecutive year receiving this honor. Florence met the program’s four requirements: maintaining a tree board or department, having a tree care ordinance, dedicating an annual community forestry budget, and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. Additionally, the city received a Tree City USA Growth Award for demonstrating environmental improvement and exceptional tree care.
This year's celebration will feature tree planting activities, a brief history of Arbor Day, reading of the City's Arbor Day Proclamation, and free lunch. The event is open to everyone; friends, family, and neighbors are welcome to participate. Whether you are a tree enthusiast or simply looking for an engaging way to spend the day, the Arbor Day Celebration offers something for all attendees.
