Covington, Ky. – Covington’s Urban Forestry Division will partner with the Kenton County Extension Office for its Urban Tree Walk: Kenton Hills on Saturday. The tour, which focuses on large and interesting tree species, particularly evergreens, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on May 25. It begins at the Devou Park Scenic Overlook at 854 Park Lane.
Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes as they join Covington Urban Forester Patrick Moore and Kenton County Cooperative Extension Agent Brandon George in exploring mature trees near Devou Park's wooded areas.
“In addition to the usual topics we always discuss about the urban trees, we’ll have an opportunity to see a wide range of evergreen tree species that we don’t see frequently,” said Moore. “I’m often asked about what kind of evergreen trees are a good fit to plant in yards in Covington. This event will be a great chance for people to learn more about what characteristics make up a good urban evergreen tree species.”
In case of rain, the walk will be rescheduled for June 1.
The event is free but requires registration. More information about programming offered by the Kenton County Extension Office can be found on their events page.
