The upcoming Easter Egg Hunt in Devou Park is set to be a fun-filled event for Covington kids up to age 12. Alicia Chappell, the Recreational Program Coordinator for Covington Parks & Recreation, highlighted the popularity of the event, stating, “We typically get some 500 to 600 kids, so it’s probably our biggest event of the year.”

In addition to the egg hunt, the event will feature games, prizes, food, and the chance to take photos with the Easter Bunny. Mary Kay Connolly, Director of Read Ready Covington, introduced a unique component for parents attending the event. She mentioned, “Parents will also have the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire called Ages & Stages that helps measure their child’s development from 1 month to 5 years of age.”

The event will take place on Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the bandshell in Devou Park. Children will be split into three different age groups for the egg gathering, with each group starting at a designated time. The plastic eggs at the hunt will contain candy and toys, along with a special gold-colored goat statue in each age group that will bring a special prize.

Aside from the egg hunt, families can enjoy various activities such as partnered Egg Toss, Egg & Spoon Race, and a petting zoo. Free hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and drinks will also be available for all attendees.

Registration for the event is not mandatory but encouraged. Families can sign up by 3 p.m. Friday via email or show up on the day of the event starting at 11 a.m. This will help Parks & Rec communicate with attendees about future events and any last-minute schedule changes.

The Easter Egg Hunt promises to be a delightful occasion for families in Covington, combining fun activities with the opportunity for parents to gain insights into their child's development.
