The City of Florence is encouraging residents to recycle their natural Christmas trees this holiday season. In an effort to promote environmental sustainability, the city has arranged for the proper disposal of these trees through the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife department.
To ensure a smooth recycling process, residents are advised to remove all tinsel, ornaments, ribbons, lights, and bags from their trees. The City of Florence is providing two convenient options for tree disposal.
Curbside service will be available on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Residents are requested to place their trees on the curb the night before for collection by Florence Public Services. It is important to note that trees not set on the curb will not be collected.
Alternatively, residents can drop off their trees at Stringtown Park, located at 7340 Burlington Pike, from January 2nd to January 7th, 2024. The drop-off location will be open until 5:00 p.m. on January 7th.
For further information and inquiries regarding the Christmas treecycling initiative, residents are encouraged to contact the Public Services Department at 859-647-5416.
In the event of inclement weather, the City of Florence is prepared to reschedule the tree pick-up. If the city's snow crews need to implement snow routes for road treatment on the scheduled day, the event will be postponed to the following day after the roads have been cleared.
This initiative aims to promote the responsible disposal of natural Christmas trees and reduce the environmental impact of waste. By recycling these trees, the City of Florence demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and encourages residents to join in these efforts.
In the words of the Public Services Department, "Recycle your natural Christmas trees with us! Please remove all tinsel, ornaments, ribbons, lights, and bags. All trees will be properly disposed of by Kentucky Fish & Wildlife."
