If you're interested in acquiring a new and in-demand skill this holiday season, the Covington Academy of Heritage Trades is offering an information session on Thursday. The session will provide details about the upcoming 2024 course schedule, as well as information about introductory weekends, scholarships, and opportunities to meet potential employers. Diane McConnell, Director of Workforce Development with the Enzweiler Building Institute, expressed excitement about the upcoming class, stating that it will provide a lot of hands-on experience.

The Covington Academy of Heritage Trades (CAHT) is a program that teaches the necessary skills and knowledge to restore older homes and buildings. The classes are taught in a classroom setting as well as in a hands-on "living lab" where students have the opportunity to work alongside skilled craftspeople. Kaitlin Bryan, the City's Historic Preservation Specialist, explained that the upcoming courses have been designed to empower students with practical skills and knowledge in restoration trades. The curriculum covers all stages of bringing a historic building back to life, including mechanicals, plaster, masonry, windows, roofing, and more.

Applications for the Spring 2024 session at the Covington location are now being accepted, with classes starting on January 8th. To register for the information session or to learn more about the Spring 2024 session, interested individuals can visit The Covington Heritage Trades Academy website or contact Diane McConnell at (859) 640-4294 or Diane@BuildersNKY.com.
