If the predicted storms threaten your weekend plans in Covington, Kentucky, alternatives are available to keep you occupied and dry.
The Covington Urban Forestry Board, in cooperation with the Kentucky Division of Forestry, will hold a Kentucky Arbor Day Ceremony at Goebel Park on Friday. Attendees will witness a memorial tree planting and a seedling giveaway of 200 Bald Cypress seedlings with planting instructions. On Saturday, the Urban Forestry Board will continue its celebration with a Spring Tree Planting event where volunteers can help plant 25 to 30 trees. "Keep in mind that inclement weather might cause the event to be cancelled, so please check the Covington Urban Forestry Board’s Facebook page for updates," the organizers advise.
For cat enthusiasts, Bingo Night with Rescue Cats at Purrfect Day Cat Café takes place on Saturday. Those aged 18 and over can enjoy bingo, win prizes, and spend time with cats in the lounge, accompanied by discounted cocktail prices. Bingo winners will receive prizes.
The Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop will host an Easter Egg Dot Painting Class on Saturday. Participants can design unique wooden, laser-cut, three-dimensional Easter eggs without requiring prior dot painting expertise.
Crochet fans might want to attend Sunday's Granny Square Crochet workshop at Handzy Shop + Studio. Participants will learn new techniques such as double crochet, magic loop, slip knot, and color changes. "You’ll learn how to double crochet, magic loop, slip knot, and switch out colors," says the workshop description.
West Sixth Covington Haus provides Goat Yoga on Sunday, a beginner-level class featuring Nigerian Dwarf goats throughout the session for stress reduction and relaxation. Participants are encouraged to take selfies with the goats afterward.
Several live music events are scheduled throughout the weekend. Drake White is performing at the Madison Theater on Thursday, with additional acts at other venues on Friday and Saturday including OG NIXIN and That Arena Rock Show.
Additional activities this weekend include the Northern Kentucky Sports Legends of the 1950s exhibit at Behringer-Crawford Museum, Disco Bingo, and a wine tasting event featuring South American wines, all occurring on Thursday. On Saturday, attendees can explore the Covington Farmers Market, MainStrasse Village Food Tour, and participate in an earring workshop at Handzy Shop + Studio. The sports exhibit continues on Sunday.
