COVINGTON, Ky. – For more than a dozen years, Bryan Snider worked to make Covington look better.

As a dedicated member of Covington’s Public Works Department, he moved throughout the city, cutting grass, knocking down weeds, trimming trees, vacuuming leaves, taming the riverbanks, and cleaning up trash and debris.

“You name it, he did it,” Public Works Director Keith Bales said.

Last Friday, Snider lost a long fight with cancer. He was just 40 and is survived by his fiancée and three sons.

This Sunday, there will be a “Celebration of Life” for Snider from noon to 3 p.m. at the Covington Professional Firefighters Local 38 Union Hall at 2232 Howell St.

General Maintenance Supervisor Troy McCain, who worked closely with Snider when Snider was moved from the Devou Park/Urban Forestry Division to General Maintenance, said Snider is deeply missed by his co-workers – and for good reason.

“A good guy. Well-liked. A team player. Always there to help,” McCain said. “He worked a lot with seasonals and new employees, giving guidance and passing along his knowledge. He was a leader when needed, and he could fill many positions and shoes. Very versatile. Very easy to get along with.”

Right before he went on sick leave, Snider had been moved to the City’s new Storm Water Division to help get those operations up and running, Bales said.

“He was a good employee. Hard-working and dedicated,” Bales said.
