Weekend events in Covington cater to diverse interests

COVINGTON, Ky. – This weekend offers a variety of events for dog lovers, Marvel comic enthusiasts, film buffs, music fans, and those looking to support local causes.

The Kenton County Public Library will host a Marvel Trivia: X-Men and Avengers game tonight. Participants can test their knowledge on topics ranging from Marvel films to comics. "Do you know Magneto’s real name? Which X-Man can charge animate and inanimate objects with kinetic energy? Who has blue fur and a tail and can teleport himself?" reads the event description.

Pique's gallery will feature its Bad Movie Club: Champ Against Champ tonight. The martial arts film stars Dragon Lee in what is described as an "epically bad" movie. Attendees can also volunteer to act or help film their own bad movie.

Art Equals is hosting an Indigo Dye Party at the Hellmann Creative Center on Friday. Participants are encouraged to bring items made of natural materials like cotton or wool for dyeing with indigo dye. The event will also include a potluck.

Larry’s All-American Café was selected by country musician Zach Bryan for the release of his new album "Great American Bar Scene." The café will play the album all week and host events such as a Zach Bryan “Look-Alike” Contest on Friday and a Block Party on Saturday.

Frosthaus will hold the Haus Pawty Supporting SAAP on Saturday to benefit the Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP). Activities include photo sessions for donations, costume contests, and Tito’s giveaways.

Madison Live will host the Cover Lover Benefit for Homeward Bound Shelter on Saturday featuring performances by Bronson Arroyo, Wallace Woods, and The Weathered Feather. Proceeds will support Brighton Center’s Homeward Bound Shelter which provides emergency shelter services for youth aged 11-17 in Northern Kentucky.

Covington Parks & Rec’s Independence Day Dog Parade is scheduled for Sunday ahead of the 4th of July holiday next week. Prizes will be awarded for the most patriotic dogs.

Live music events this weekend include performances by Caysen Hammonds & Family at Behringer-Crawford Museum tonight, Ghostface Killah at Madison Theater on Friday, Green Light Morning at Madison Live on Saturday among others.

Other miscellaneous events include Cigar Night at Smoke Justis tonight, Graeter’s Monthly Donut Pop-Up at Braxton Brewing Co. on Friday, Covington Farmers Market on Saturday morning among various other activities throughout the weekend.
