Covington hosts weekend events including festivals, pub crawl

COVINGTON, Ky. – This weekend in Covington promises a variety of events for residents and visitors, with activities ranging from creative workshops to cultural celebrations.

The Hellmann Creative Center will host an Adult Creative Swim: Wet Felting event tonight as part of Art Equals’ summer program. Participants will explore the wet felting technique, which involves creating non-woven fabric from animal fibers through wetting and agitation.

MainStrasse Village will be the venue for the Taco & Margarita Festival starting Friday and running through Sunday. The festival features traditional tacos, creative fusions by local vendors, and a wide selection of margarita flavors.

Holmes High School will hold its annual E-Waste and Paper Shredding Event on Saturday. In partnership with the Center for Great Neighborhoods and Keep Covington Beautiful program, the event encourages recycling by accepting electronic waste, confidential documents for shredding, certain types of Styrofoam™, batteries, and light bulbs.

Northern Kentucky Culture Day at the Hellmann Creative Center on Saturday offers a day filled with diverse cultural experiences. Sponsored by the Kentucky African Women Association, this event celebrates Northern Kentucky’s diverse community through music, dance, and food.

Braxton Brewing Co.’s Through the Decades Pub Crawl begins Saturday in Covington. Participants will visit various restaurants and bars themed around different decades from the 1970s to the 2000s while solving puzzles along their journey.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show opens Saturday at The Carnegie featuring RuPaul Drag Race star Dusty Ray Bottoms as Dr. Frank-n-Furter and Cincinnati artist Pam Kravetz as The Narrator. The show runs through July 7.

Live music performances are scheduled throughout Covington this weekend:

- Tonight: The Missy Werner Band at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub & Restaurant; Tickled Pink Electric Trio at Behringer-Crawford Museum; Chuck Brisbin Trio at Smoke Justis.

- Friday: Ryan Snyder at Madison Live; Kyla at Creative House of Art & Design; Queen City Krewe at Juniper’s; Leroy Ellington at Smoke Justis.

- Saturday: Mind Circus at Madison Live; Marsellus Wallace at The Rooftop at Madison Theater; Nomads Trio at Juniper’s; Corey Tucker at Smoke Justis; Shadewell Band at Frosthaus.

- Sunday: Moonbeau at Madison Live; An Evening with The Ault Park Band at The Village Theater.

Additional events include Thirsty Thursday Bingo tonight at Frosthaus and a Summer Pop-Up Market tonight at Juniper’s. On Saturday, there is a Covington Farmers Market, MainStrasse Village Food & Cultural Tour, Purple Paisley Local Artisan Shop's 5 Year Celebration, Scarlet Begonia’s Flower Truck Pop-Up at Juniper’s, MEOWgaritaville Summer Fun with Kittens event at Purrfect Day Cat Cafe, Zodiac Button Making: Cancer session at Kenton County Public Library. Sunday features Independence Day Buttons activity also held by Kenton County Public Library and Music Bingo night again hosted by Frosthaus.
