The city of Covington, Kentucky, is preparing for election season by reminding candidates and their supporters about the strict rules regarding the placement of political signs. City officials have made it clear that political signs are not permitted on public property, including parks, medians, promenades, tree wells, utility poles, street signs, and grassy areas between sidewalks and streets.

City staff have the authority to remove any political signs found in these prohibited areas, similar to how they handle signs for businesses, organizations, and causes that are placed without proper authorization. Additionally, it is emphasized that political signs are also prohibited in the state-maintained right of way along routes maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Furthermore, the city highlights the importance of obtaining permission from private property owners before placing political signs on their premises. Failure to do so may result in the property owner exercising their right to remove the unauthorized sign.

As the election season ramps up, it is crucial for candidates and their supporters to adhere to these regulations to maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the city of Covington.
