Wandel Ray Pennington, age 81, of Covington, KY, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Born on March 10, 1944, in Covington, Ray was the beloved son of the late Andy Pennington and Irene Freeman.

A lifelong Northern Kentucky resident, Ray found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, relishing quiet moments fishing and passionately supporting the Cincinnati Bengals. His warm demeanor, humor, and unwavering loyalty made him an adored presence in the lives of his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Pennington, Ray leaves behind cherished memories with those who loved him, including his step-son Allen Smith, brothers Gary and James Pennington, sisters Patricia Wagers and Berisa Lewis, and his devoted niece and caregiver, Bobbie Lewis. Ray is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a network of lifelong friends who will miss him deeply.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Serenity Funeral Care in Covington, KY. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 P.M. Ray will find his final resting place at Independence Cemetery in Independence, KY.
