During the first quarter of 2026, Villaspring of Erlanger was the second largest nursing home in Kenton County, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

Records indicate the facility offered 140 beds, which is 44 more than the average for Kenton County in the opening quarter of 2026. Villaspring served an average of 126.8 residents in that timeframe.

CMS awarded Villaspring of Erlanger an overall rating of 3 out of 5, aligning with the mean rating for nursing homes statewide in Kentucky.

Rosedale Green had the most beds available in the county at 176, making it the largest. In third place was Woodcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, offering 127 beds.

Villaspring of Erlanger did not report any fines or penalties in the first quarter of 2026.

Kenton County, Kentucky, had a total of 4 for-profit nursing homes.

Based on U.S. Census Bureau estimates, growth in the country’s older adult population continues, while the number of younger individuals is declining. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and up grew by 13%, contrasted with a 1.7% drop in those under 18. The older adult population has seen a steep rise over the last 100 years, expanding from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 analysis found that close to half this group—about 28 million people—could need long-term services and support, with projections indicating over a third may eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
