Thomas Massie, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, has been vocal on several issues through his social media presence. His recent posts cover topics from tax policy to education reform and government accountability.
On June 2, 2025, Massie questioned the permanence of the Trump administration’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He stated, “Why didn’t Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act make tax cuts permanent? Because the impact of the tax cuts on debt after 2025 was understood by THEM to be too great.” He criticized the current narrative that renewing these cuts without reducing spending would not affect national debt.
The following day, June 3, Massie announced legislative support for his proposal to dismantle a federal department. He shared that “34 Reps have cosponsored my bill to terminate the federal Department of Education.” This initiative aims to reduce federal spending and return educational control to local entities such as parents and school boards. Former President Trump reportedly supports this measure.
Later on June 3, Massie expressed criticism towards a former government official. He described Dr. Birx as “the worst type of person that gets into government: A complete hypocrite.” His comments reflect dissatisfaction with her actions during her tenure in public service.
Massie’s career began in state politics before he assumed office in Congress after replacing Geoff Davis in 2012. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971, he resides in Garrison and holds a degree from MIT.
