Thomas Massie, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, shared his thoughts on several political and technological issues through a series of tweets. Massie, who succeeded Geoff Davis in Congress and holds a degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has been vocal about various legislative matters and their implications.

On June 5, 2025, Massie commented on the motivations behind political decision-making. He expressed skepticism towards politicians who prioritize personal financial gain over national interest. Referring to an article from December, he stated that “Some politicians get into politics to enrich themselves. Maybe that’s why they can’t imagine someone would judge a bill based on what’s good for the country instead of what’s good for their wallet.” He further noted that Elon Musk was not motivated by electric vehicle tax credits.

Later the same day, Massie discussed innovation in technology and leadership dynamics during an interview with Sharyl Attkisson taped on March 27th. He observed that significant advancements such as landing rockets or developing self-driving cars require decisive leadership and mentioned that “The falling out was inevitable. You don’t land rockets backwards or get cars to drive themselves by suffering fools gladly.”

On June 6, 2025, Massie addressed legislative concerns regarding technology provisions within a proposed bill. He urged the Senate to reconsider certain aspects of the legislation by stating “I hope the Senate strips out this dangerous Big Tech provision of the Big Beautiful Bill.”

As a representative with roots in West Virginia and a background in engineering from MIT, Thomas Massie’s insights reflect his focus on both policy integrity and technological progress.
