Thomas Massie, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 4th district, has shared a series of tweets reflecting on liberty, principles, and political grifting. Massie, who took office in 2012 after replacing Geoff Davis, continues to engage with his constituents through social media.
On July 7, 2025, Massie expressed a sentiment regarding his home state by stating “Liberty is popular in Kentucky.”
The following day, on July 8, he shared a philosophical quote often attributed to Thomas Jefferson: “In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.” He acknowledged the wisdom of the words irrespective of their origin.
Later that same day, Massie commented on political opportunism with the statement “Grifters running out of things to grift on.” This reflects his critical stance towards certain political figures or actions he perceives as exploitative.
Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and now residing in Garrison, Massie’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), earned in 1993. His political career began at the state level before moving to national politics.
