Thomas Massie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, addressed several national and international issues in a series of posts on August 12, 2025.

In a statement regarding potential military action in the Middle East, Massie wrote: “In no way, shape, or form should we participate in this next act of war if Israel carries it out:

‘Israel is likely to launch another war with Iran before December—perhaps even as early as late August.’ https://t.co/OxGqUbXFuR” (August 12, 2025).

Turning to domestic politics and executive appointments, Massie commented on the limitations faced by former President Donald Trump regarding recess appointments. He stated: “Why can’t @realDonaldTrump do recess appointments to fill hundreds of empty seats in his administration? Because GOP House & Senate hold proforma sessions to block him. Meanwhile bureaucrats carry on as if they report to no one. Here’s the one they held today in an empty chamber: https://t.co/up89jLfSuY” (August 12, 2025).

Massie also expressed appreciation for legislative support from a colleague, writing: “Thank you to @RepAaronBean for cosponsoring H.R. 1040, the Senior Citizens Tax Elimination Act.

This bill assists middle-class seniors by eliminating the unjust double-tax on Social Security benefits.” (August 12, 2025).

Thomas Massie has represented Kentucky’s 4th District since replacing Geoff Davis in Congress and previously served in state government roles. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and residing in Garrison, he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS degree in 1993.
