Thomas Massie, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, has recently taken to social media to provide updates on efforts in the House of Representatives to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
On September 4, 2025, Massie posted: “We have 214 signatures on the discharge petition to force a vote on a bill to release the Epstein files. I’m 99% certain we’ll get 218. At that point @SpeakerJohnson may try to change the rules of the House, but chair of Rules Committee says she won’t!” He referenced ongoing attempts within Congress to gather enough support for a discharge petition—a procedural move that can bring a bill directly to the floor for a vote if it secures sufficient signatures.
Later that day, Massie provided another update about his advocacy efforts with Representative Ro Khanna: “ICYMI: @RepRoKhanna and I appeared on @CNN’s The Source with @kaitlancollins last night to discuss the discharge petition we introduced to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files in their entirety. Epstein’s survivors deserve justice, and Americans deserve transparency.”
On September 5, 2025, Massie posted a brief comment referencing video content: “Oh my, worth the watch.”
Discharge petitions are rarely successful in Congress due to their procedural complexity and political implications. However, Massie’s public statements indicate growing momentum behind this particular effort.
Massie was born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently resides in Garrison. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993. Before serving in Congress, he was involved in local government as Lewis County Judge Executive and served in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
