Thomas Massie, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, has recently expressed his views on U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts through a series of tweets. Massie, who succeeded Geoff Davis and previously served in the Kentucky House of Representatives, shared his concerns about America’s military engagements and fiscal responsibilities.
On June 18, 2025, Massie questioned the lack of congressional opposition to U.S. involvement in Israel’s conflict with Iran. He stated, “Most Americans do not support U.S. involvement in Israel’s war against Iran. Which begs the question, why doesn’t more of Congress oppose it? Literally no one campaigned on another war in the Middle-East.”
The following day, June 19, he posed a rhetorical question regarding taxpayer money allocation: “Which war should your tax dollars be spent on?” This tweet highlights his ongoing concern about government spending on military operations abroad.
On June 20, Massie reiterated his stance against further U.S. military engagement in the Middle East by introducing a bipartisan War Powers Resolution aimed at forcing a congressional vote on this issue. He tweeted: “I’m opposed to getting the U.S. involved in another war in the Middle East. My bipartisan War Powers Resolution to force a vote on U.S. involvement in Israel’s war against Iran has 39 cosponsors. Law requires @SpeakerJohnson to bring this to a vote.”
Massie’s educational background includes graduating from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993.
