U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie, who represents Kentucky’s 4th district, recently highlighted meetings with veterans’ advocates and livestock industry leaders in a series of posts on his social media account.
On March 11, 2026, Massie wrote about a meeting with Kentucky VFW leaders: “I had a great meeting with Kentucky @VFWHQ leaders Thomas Horseman, James Toebbe, Nicole Horseman, Darren Atkins, Amber Daniel & Nathan Sesco. I appreciate their advocacy for KY veterans. We discussed the Major Richard Star Act & TAP Promotion Act, both of which I cosponsor.”
Later that day, Massie shared details of his engagement with members of the Livestock Marketing Association (LMA): “Recently, I met with members of @sellatauction, the Livestock Marketing Association. I am a cosponsor of HR 4500, the HELP Act. This bill will cut red tape by exempting livestock haulers from rigid trucking rules that don’t account for the realities of transporting live animals.” He followed up by expressing gratitude to LMA representatives: “Thank you, LMA CEO Forrest Mangan, LMA Director of Government and Industry Affairs Kevin Thielen, and LMA members Jim Akers, Jay Romine, and Helen Glover.”
The Major Richard Star Act and TAP Promotion Act are legislative initiatives focused on supporting veterans’ benefits and transition programs. The HELP Act (HR 4500) aims to modify federal regulations affecting livestock transportation.
Massie has served in Congress since 2012 after replacing Geoff Davis as representative for Kentucky’s 4th district. Before his tenure in Congress he held positions in state government including service in the Kentucky House of Representatives and as Lewis County Judge Executive. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison, Massie earned his undergraduate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993.
