Thomas Massie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, recently posted a series of tweets addressing media appearances and law enforcement practices regarding firearms in Washington, D.C.

On August 14, 2025, Massie highlighted a recent interview conducted at his farm: “*warning content*

.@ErinKYSpectrum from Spectrum News came to my farm in Garrison last week to film this interview.

Later the same day, he informed followers about an upcoming live interview: “At 10am eastern TODAY (Thursday), I’ll be joining @ChildrensHD for a one hour live interview covering many topics of the day. Tune in!

(Their post says tomorrow morning, but they posted this yesterday.) https://t.co/REHrVGaQj2” (August 14, 2025).

In another tweet on August 14, Massie commented on firearm-related arrests in Washington, D.C.: “The police/troops in DC should quit arresting people for carrying a firearm without a permit. They’re publishing this metric as if it’s something to be proud of, but it’s not.

In high crime areas like DC, people rely on their right to keep and bear arms to keep them safe.

I do.” (August 14, 2025).

Massie has represented Kentucky’s 4th District in Congress since succeeding Geoff Davis in 2012. He previously served both in the Kentucky House of Representatives and as Lewis County Judge Executive. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison—a detail referenced by his mention of the farm—Massie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology earned in 1993.
