Thomas Massie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, shared a series of posts on his social media accounts on August 27 and 28, 2025. The posts covered topics ranging from constitutional oaths to school safety legislation.

On August 27, Massie addressed the responsibilities of elected officials in the United States: “When we take office, we swear an oath to the Constitution, not to the flag and not to the President. Congrats to the ~93,500 respondents who chose that correct answer. Of course, some of the 9% answered ironically and even asked me to add ‘donors’ as a choice in the next poll.” (August 27, 2025).

Later that day, he announced an upcoming radio appearance: “I’ll be on @840WHAS with @LelandShow today at 11:04 AM ET. Tune in!” (August 27, 2025).

On August 28, Massie discussed his legislative efforts regarding school safety and gun laws: “Every Congress, I have introduced a bill to repeal the federal Gun Free School Zone Act. Deranged shooters choose schools because they know their victims are vulnerable. This one even admitted it. There’s never been a shooting like this in a school that allows staff to carry.” (August 28, 2025).

Massie has represented Kentucky’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Geoff Davis in 2012 and previously served as Lewis County Judge Executive after his time in the Kentucky House of Representatives. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison, Massie holds a degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology earned in 1993.
