U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie, who represents Kentucky’s 4th district, used his social media account on October 10, 2025, to criticize government actions related to vaccine approval and propaganda laws.

In a post published at 01:32 UTC, Massie stated: “Omg, I deposed this miscreant. He was responsible for the fraudulent approval (and illegal government promotion) of the mRNA vaccines after he chased off the two top vaccine reviewers at the FDA (Marion Gruber and Philip Krause).”

Later that day at 16:35 UTC, Massie addressed concerns about government messaging to citizens: “The U.S. should NOT use propaganda on our citizens, but that prohibition was lifted in 2013! Thank you, @RepScottPerry, @RepMTG, @RepEricBurlison, @RepMarkHarrisNC, and @RepChipRoy for cosponsoring HR 5704 to repeal the 2013 Smith-Mundt Modernization Act.”

At 22:37 UTC on the same day, he posted about new legislative efforts: “Massie Introduces Bill to Stop the Government From Propagandizing Americans”.

Thomas Massie has served in Congress since replacing Geoff Davis in 2012 and previously held roles in state government including as Lewis County Judge Executive. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison, Massie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), earned in 1993.

The Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2013 amended previous legislation regarding domestic dissemination of information intended for foreign audiences by U.S. agencies. The recent introduction of HR 5704 reflects ongoing debate over the government’s role in communicating with its own citizens.
