U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie, who represents Kentucky’s 4th district, posted a series of statements on July 17, 2025, addressing intra-party conflicts among Republicans and advocating for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

In a tweet published at 13:07 UTC, Massie stated, “Attacking republicans who lean independent or libertarian is how republicans (Trump) will lose the majority this midterm. MAGA Inc, the money grubbing grifters that surround Trump, (not to be confused with the MAGA grassroots), have already spent $1.8 million against me.”

Later that day at 17:45 UTC, Massie commented on efforts to make public documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: “Some folks are eager to sweep the Epstein files under the rug, but we will force the vote on my legislation to release the Epstein files in September if the required 7 legislative days don’t elapse before the Speaker recesses Congress for August break.”

At 18:25 UTC on July 17, Massie thanked a fellow legislator for supporting his initiative: “Thank you @RepMaxMiller for cosponsoring this legislation to release the Epstein files. Americans deserve transparency and the victims of Epstein (and his associates) deserve justice.”

Massie has represented Kentucky’s 4th District in Congress since 2012 after succeeding Geoff Davis. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in local government roles including as Lewis County Judge Executive and was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison, Massie graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993.
