U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie, who represents Kentucky’s 4th district, posted a series of tweets on September 14, 2025, addressing legislative issues and his recent public appearances.
In one tweet from the afternoon of September 14, Massie commented on the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act, stating: “The Smith-Mundt Modernization Act (part of 2013 NDAA) repealed the prohibition that kept the U.S. government from using propaganda on U.S. citizens. I voted against that NDAA. Recently, I offered an Amendment to reinstate the prohibition, but @SpeakerJohnson blocked the vote.” He expressed concern about government communication practices and his efforts to address them in Congress.
Later that day, Massie discussed federal funding procedures and criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson’s approach to budget deadlines. On September 14 at 20:43 UTC he wrote: “Funding deadline is 9/30/25. @SpeakerJohnson is running the same swamp play as Pelosi, Ryan, Boehner: use a CR to ‘kick the can’ to right before the holidays. Rather than give the same speech, I’m submitting last year’s speech, Sub ‘lawmaker security’ for ‘fake border security'”.
In another post later that evening, Massie shared his participation in a community event: “I was honored to speak at Northern Kentucky Right to Life’s 52nd Annual “Celebration for Life” in Erlanger, Kentucky today. It was encouraging to be among so many Kentuckians working together to protect the right to life.”
Massie has represented Kentucky’s 4th district since replacing Geoff Davis in Congress in 2012 and previously served in state and local government positions.[1][2] Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison,[3] Massie holds a degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[4]
