Thomas Massie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, recently addressed the activities of a superPAC in a series of posts on his social media account. The tweets focused on negative advertisements targeting him and his stance on foreign aid and military involvement abroad.
On August 1, 2025, Massie wrote: “Three billionaires from New York City and Las Vegas have funded a superPAC deceptively named Kentucky MAGA to run millions of dollars of negative ads against me because I vote against foreign aid for Israel and needless wars in the Middle East. Kentuckians aren’t falling for it.”
Later that same day, he posted another message referencing government funding: “Can we stop funding it?” On August 2, Massie commented on an essay generated by artificial intelligence regarding potential candidates recruited by the superPAC: “I asked grok to ‘write a scathing but accurate essay about whomever the anti-Massie superPAC donors are able to recruit to run against him.’ How well do you think grok did?”
Massie’s recent statements come amid ongoing criticism of political action committees’ influence in congressional races. Since entering Congress in 2012 after serving as Lewis County Judge Executive and a term in the Kentucky House of Representatives, Massie has maintained positions critical of U.S. foreign aid and overseas military engagements. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971, he resides in Garrison and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
