Thomas Massie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, posted a series of tweets on October 6, 2025, alleging that Speaker Johnson is obstructing legislative efforts related to the release of documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein.

In a tweet posted at 17:14 UTC, Massie wrote: “Contrary to what he says, @SpeakerJohnson is doing everything he can, including delaying the swearing in of the most recently elected member of Congress and spreading misinformation about the legislation, to block a vote in Congress on legislation to release the Epstein files.”

Later that day at 22:45 UTC, Massie shared an article and commented: “Article explains the ‘Epstein Recess.'”

At 22:59 UTC on October 6, Massie expressed frustration with current budgetary decisions by Congressional leadership. He stated: “This is insane. What’s more insane… the Republican controlled House and Senate and White House won’t cut anyone’s budget who did this. Also, no one will be fired.”

Massie’s remarks come amid ongoing debates within Congress over transparency and accountability regarding high-profile investigations. The reference to “Epstein files” concerns documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities and associates—a topic that has generated significant public interest and scrutiny over Congressional handling.

A member of Congress since replacing Geoff Davis in 2012, Thomas Massie was born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently resides in Garrison. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), earned in 1993.
