Sidney J. Vignes, Devoted Christian and Lifelong Learner, Passes Away at 83

Sidney J. Vignes, 83, of Edgewood, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Sidney had a passion for chess, good food, museums, history, and books. He served in the National Guard from 1960 to 1967 and earned a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1997 while working full-time. Sidney retired from the government sector in 2011 after moving to Northern Kentucky.

Sidney was known for his deep dedication to his Christian faith and spent many years serving the church. He will be remembered fondly for his hard work and love for learning.

Sidney is survived by Dianna Vignes, John and Melissa Armstrong, Melody Kittle, Autumn Vignes, Nathan Fugate, Isaac Musgrove, Aeden Vignes-Hobbs, and Emmaleigh Vignes. He was preceded in death by Sidney J. Vignes Jr., Edna Irene Kaufman Vignes, Donald Vignes, Edna Irene Vignes, and Sidney Ray Vignes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Taft Museum of Art in Sidney's name. To plant a memorial tree in memory of Sidney J. Vignes, please visit the Tree Store.
