Representative Thomas Massie has put forward new legislation aiming to amend the Federal Election Campaign Act. The proposal, known as H.R. 2356 or the Dual Loyalty Disclosure Act, mandates that political candidates disclose any dual citizenship alongside the respective foreign country in their statement of candidacy when running for federal office.

"Dual citizens elected to the United States Congress should renounce citizenship in all other countries," stated Rep. Massie. He elaborated further, saying, "At a minimum, they should disclose their citizenship in other countries and abstain from votes specifically benefitting those countries. If we are going to continue to allow Members of Congress to acquire and retain citizenship in other countries, they should at least be required to disclose to voters all countries of which they consider themselves to be citizens."

The bill has gained support from several original cosponsors, including Rep. Andy Biggs from Arizona, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia, and Rep. Clay Higgins from Louisiana.

Details of the proposed legislation, H.R. 2356, can be accessed through the provided link.
