Daniel A. Lee, 91, Veterans’ Advocate and Loving Patriarch, Remembered Fondly

Daniel A. Lee, aged 91, of Union, Kentucky, passed away surrounded by his family on February 12, 2025. Born on October 1, 1933, in Big Springs, Ohio, to the late Howard T. Lee and Bertha Tapp Lee, Daniel was deeply saddened by the loss of his wife, Carol L. Lee, his son Gary Lee, and sister Janice Kauffman.

Daniel’s spirit lives on through his children: Howard “Jake” Lee, Danny Lee, David Walker, Karen Lunsford, Greg Lee, Stephanie Walker, and John Walker. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support.

At just 16, Daniel enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War and in Vietnam, retiring from the Air Force in 1972. His service took him around the world, from Germany to Alaska, culminating in roles at Stanton Military Academy and Air Force Intelligence. A Purple Heart veteran, Daniel’s courage and sacrifices remain unforgettable. Following his military career, he spent two decades at Pinkerton in various roles, impacting the lives of many. Daniel also found solace as a lifelong member of the General Matthew B. Ridgeway 82nd Airborne Association, connecting with fellow veterans.

A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Florence, KY, followed by a funeral service. Daniel and Carol will be laid to rest together at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY. Condolences and memories can be shared online at www.stithfuneralhomes.com.
