Florence seeks new council member after David A. Osborne's passing

The City of Florence has announced a vacancy on the City Council following the passing of longtime Councilmember David A. Osborne on January 10, 2025. The council is seeking qualified candidates to fill this position.

According to Kentucky law, specifically KRS 83A.040(5), the Florence City Council has a period of 30 days from the date of the vacancy to appoint a new member. If an appointment is not made within this timeframe, the Governor of Kentucky will be responsible for selecting a replacement.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet certain criteria: they must be at least 18 years old, registered voters, and residents of Florence for the duration of their term if appointed.
