Covington Public Works crews were in Latonia and Austinburg this week (among other places) tackling the ongoing mission of patching torn-up streets.

Rather than fill individual potholes, the crews scraped away and repaved big sections so as to create a smoother driving experience and make the fixes last longer.

These photos show members of the Right of Way Division on Oliver Street at Oakland Avenue near the Licking River floodwall and at the intersection of East Southern Avenue and Church Street just east of Ritte’s Corner.

Smoothing asphalt in the third photo are (from left to right) Right of Way’s Lonnie Johnson, Fred Davis, Alvis Barber, and Vince Mangin. Sitting on the roller on Church Street (in the second photo) is Mangin.
