COVINGTON, Ky. – The Covington Farmers Market is set to make its return to the outdoors this Saturday at its new location, the Covington Motor Vehicle Parking Authority parking lot at 425 Madison Ave. The move comes after a winter stint inside Braxton Brewing Co.
Kyle Snyder, the Authority’s Executive Director, expressed his satisfaction with the new venue, emphasizing the safety and convenience it offers to market attendees. Snyder stated, “The Parking Authority is happy to partner with the Center for Great Neighborhoods on the Farmers Market. The City’s parking lot on Madison Avenue will be a great location. It is centrally located in the city, and market goers will have plenty of parking on Madison Avenue and at the Midtown garage.”
Market Manager Rachel Seligman shared her optimism about the new location, highlighting the improved safety measures and accessible parking options. Seligman mentioned, “The Madison Avenue lot adds a feeling of safety from vehicular traffic while providing accessible parking options. Vendors are looking forward to seeing all our loyal shoppers for the outdoor season.” She also revealed the variety of vendors that will be present, including new additions like Rutz Flower Field, Creektrace Valley Farm, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, and Buttercat Dairy and Biscuits.
Seligman also mentioned the early offerings at the market, stating, “The first couple of weeks, we’ll have plants for sale at the market so people can make their gardens grow, things like tomato plants, pepper plants, and chives.”
The Covington Farmers Market, a pet-friendly event, will run rain or shine on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market accepts SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP benefits and participates in the Kentucky Double Dollars Program. Community outreach booths will also be present throughout the season.
The market, which began its operations in 2012, has been a staple in the community, regularly hosting over two dozen vendors. The outdoor market season runs from May through November, shifting indoors to Braxton Brewing Co. during the winter months.
