Covington, Ky. - Greg Stacy, the newly appointed Parks and Recreation Manager for Covington, has expressed his enthusiasm for engaging with the community on upcoming projects. Stacy's passion for parks and recreation is evident throughout his career, which he has built on managing fun activities for various programs and projects.

Stacy's journey in the field of parks and recreation began during his teenage years while working for Boone County Parks, where he organized T-ball programs and camps for kids. Reflecting on his early experiences, Stacy shared, "I've always loved parks and recreation. I like that you can be doing all kinds of activities during a day, it's never going to be monotonous. So, I decided to make a career out of it."

Neighborhood Services Director Brandon Holmes commended Stacy's experience and dedication, stating, "Greg has the very experience, drive, and passion we need for this position. He's committed to delivering top-tier recreation projects and programs, and he's adamant about engaging the community so as to best fulfill their vision for neighborhood parks."

Stacy's promotion to the managerial position comes as a continuation of his commitment to the field. He expressed his anticipation for upcoming projects, particularly the transformation of Austinburg Park, which aims to enhance the park with various amenities. Stacy shared his excitement, saying, "Austinburg Park, once everything is completed, I think it's going to be one of our top parks."

Despite the small team managing Parks and Rec in Covington, Stacy is confident in their abilities, referring to them as "small but mighty." He emphasized the importance of adaptability in facing challenges, highlighting the diverse backgrounds and experiences that contribute to their success.

Looking ahead, Stacy emphasized the significance of community engagement in shaping the future of Covington's parks. He stressed the importance of listening to the community's desires and preferences, stating, "Community engagement is very important. They're community parks - not my parks. It's about what the community wants, and how they want to spend their time."

With Stacy's leadership and dedication to community involvement, Covington's Parks and Recreation department is poised to continue providing top-notch recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
