Families in Covington, Kentucky, have until April 11 to register their children for the Youth Soccer Program offered by Covington Parks and Recreations. The program, described as the City's most popular youth sports program, is already almost fully booked with only 6 out of 36 spots still available.
Recreational Program Coordinator Alicia Chappell highlighted the program's focus on fundamental soccer skills and ensuring a fun learning experience for the children. Chappell emphasized, "This program is designed to introduce kids to the basic fundamentals needed for the game of soccer while making sure they have a whole lot of fun as they learn."
The free five-week program will run from April 13 to May 18, excluding the week of May 4, with sessions taking place every Saturday at Austinburg Park’s FC Cincinnati soccer mini pitch. Children aged 4 through 6 will have practice sessions from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., while ages 7 through 9 will practice from 11 a.m. to noon.
Participants will be provided with socks and shin guards, and they are required to wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate attire for running and playing comfortably. Registration is mandatory to participate in the program and can be completed by visiting the Covington Rec Desk.
With spots filling up fast, interested families are encouraged to secure a place for their children in the Youth Soccer Program before the registration deadline on April 11.
