The City of Florence is developing a new Master Plan for six of its parks to serve as a guide for future improvements that the community will enjoy for years to come. Florence residents are invited to attend a public meeting to share their suggestions for potential park improvements. The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, at the Florence Nature Park Event Center at 7200 Nature Park Drive in Florence.

The Florence Parks Master Plan project team will focus on:

  • Kentaboo Park
  • Lincoln Woods Park
  • Orleans Park
  • South Fork Park
  • Stringtown Park
  • Skate Park
The master planning effort includes an analysis of existing conditions at each park and the development of concept plans, renderings, and cost estimates for improvements. The input gathered at the public meeting will help guide the project team as they make decisions during this early planning phase. The city recognizes the importance of gathering public opinion in creating a space that truly serves a community and its residents.

In considering potential improvements, the team aims to identify features and amenities that would be most beneficial for Florence residents. With a goal of long-term enjoyment for all who live, work, and play in the area, the team is hopeful to find enhancements that will serve the community’s recreational, health and wellness, and communal needs for years to come.

Residents who cannot attend the meeting are asked to complete a short online survey at https://cofparksmp.mysocialpinpoint.com/online-survey by February 9 to ensure their voices are heard. Once preliminary recommendations are developed, the team will share their recommendations in a second, virtual public meeting in late 2024 and again gather public feedback to inform the final plan.

The cofparksmp.mysocialpinpoint.com website will be live throughout the project, and residents can submit their email address to receive important updates. Additional features including an interactive map and ideas wall will be available soon, and initial concepts and draft plans will be published on the website for feedback at later stages of the process.
