The City of Florence is seeking input from residents for the development of a new Master Plan for six of its parks. The plan aims to guide future improvements and ensure that the community can enjoy these parks for years to come. To gather public opinion, a public meeting has been scheduled for January 31, 2024.

The meeting will take place at the Florence Nature Park Event Center, located at 7200 Nature Park Drive in Florence, from 6-8 p.m. All residents are invited to attend and share their suggestions for potential park improvements.

The parks included in the master planning effort are Kentaboo Park, Lincoln Woods Park, Orleans Park, South Fork Park, Stringtown Park, and Skate Park. The project team will analyze the existing conditions at each park and develop concept plans, renderings, and cost estimates for improvements.

The City of Florence recognizes the importance of gathering public opinion in creating spaces that truly serve the community and its residents. The input gathered at the public meeting will guide the project team as they make decisions during the early planning phase.

According to a city spokesperson, "We want to ensure that the parks in our city meet the needs and desires of our residents. This public meeting is an opportunity for residents to voice their opinions and contribute to the development of the Master Plan."

The team aims to identify features and amenities that would be most beneficial for Florence residents. Their goal is to enhance the parks in a way that promotes long-term enjoyment for all who live, work, and play in the area.

For residents who are unable to attend the meeting, an online survey has been made available. The survey can be completed at https://cofparksmp.mysocialpinpoint.com/online-survey by February 9. The input received through the survey will also be considered in the development of the Master Plan.

Once preliminary recommendations are developed, the team will hold a second virtual public meeting later in 2024 to share their recommendations and gather further public feedback. The final plan will be informed by the input received from residents.

To stay updated on the progress of the Master Plan, residents are encouraged to visit the cofparksmp.mysocialpinpoint.com website. By submitting their email address, residents can receive important updates throughout the project. The website will also feature an interactive map and ideas wall, allowing residents to provide feedback at different stages of the process.

The City of Florence is committed to creating parks that cater to the recreational, health and wellness, and communal needs of its residents. The public meeting and online survey provide opportunities for residents to actively participate in shaping the future of these parks.
