Curbside trash and recycling pickup in Covington, Kentucky will be delayed by one day next week due to the New Year's holiday. The carts that are normally serviced on Monday, January 1st, will now be emptied on Tuesday, January 2nd, pushing the Tuesday pickups to Wednesday, and so on. Residents are advised to set out their carts a day later than usual.
In addition to the delay in pickup, the Covington Transfer Station, operated by Rumpke Waste & Recycling, will be closed to the public on New Year's Day. The transfer station, located at the western end of Boron Drive, accepts bulk items and waste.
As the holiday season comes to an end, it is important to be mindful of waste reduction and its impact on the environment. Covington officials have provided a few reminders to help reduce waste in landfills:
"If you have holiday lights that aren't working, you can drop them off in recycling bins at City Hall and several other places," said an unidentified Covington official. Recycling holiday lights helps to minimize waste and promote sustainability.
For those who put up natural trees, there are options available to recycle them after they are taken down. The trees can be turned into mulch, reducing the negative impact on the environment. There are drop-off and pick-up options available for tree recycling in Covington.
By taking advantage of these recycling programs, Covington residents can contribute to the effort of keeping holiday waste out of landfills and promoting environmental conservation.
As the new year approaches, Covington residents are reminded to adjust their trash and recycling schedules accordingly and to make use of the recycling options available to them.
