UC Men's Bowling Sit in 7th Going Into Day Two
The UC men's bowling team are sitting in seventh place midway through their final contest of 2022 as they compete in the MSC Brandon Burns Memorial Tournament Saturday. This is a two day tournament, featuring six individual games and 16 baker games.
UC had a strong start knocking 940 pins in the first game to claim their spot in the top-ten. The Patriots dropped more than 2,000 pins over the next two games to rise one spot as they sat in ninth. Over the next two games, Cumberlands flattened 2,144 pins to climb the leaderboard, just 19 pins behind fifth place. Over the final two games of the day, the Pats hit 2,076 pins to cement a top-ten finish going into day two.
Leading the charge for Cumberlands today with 6,057 pins knocked over the six games were Robert Borowski, Bryce Frantz, Austin Hale, Liam McNamara, Stephen Simmons, and Charles Wilken.
For the first time this season, Hale finished the day in 14th place with 1,297 pins dropped in six games. The freshman averaged 195 pins over five games to notch his highest finish of the season. The Mount Washington, KY native knocked down 257 pins in games three and five to surge up the leaderboard.
After a strong start, Bryce Frantz claimed his third straight top 25 finish after he hit 1,255 pins on the day. The Louisville,KY native knocked over 180 pins in all six games on the day. A 239 in game five allowed for the Graduate Student to climb 13 spots, before ending the day in 23rd place.
Robert Borowski and Charles Wilken round out the top 35 standings for the Patriots with 1,223 and 1,222 pins each. Borowski averaged 203.8 pins per game to clinch his fourth top 35 finish on the year. The Lexington, KY native struck 247 pins in game two to claim his spot atop the leaderboard. Wilken dropped at least 190 pins in four games to surge into the standings, and has notched his third top-35 on the year.
UC will return to the lanes on Sunday November 20th to compete in 16 baker games to close out the Brandon Burns Memorial Tournament.
