Cincinnati, Ohio – Stephen David Gabbard, a revered father, coach, and mentor, peacefully departed from this world on July 27, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on January 2, 1948, Stephen was the cherished son of Carl and Betty Gabbard (née Overbey). He was reunited in eternity with his beloved wife of 51 years, Diane Gabbard (née Enxel), his parents, and his sister, Carla Line.

Stephen’s legacy of love and commitment lives on through his three sons: Hoss (Denise), Jeoffrey (Stacie), and Jacob (Tiffany); his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Betty Gabbard; his adored grandchildren: Alison, Stephen “Bo”, Carl, Alex, Quinn, Bobbi, and Lincoln; and his great-grandchildren Jack, Reagan, and Ethan.

To his sons, Stephen was not just a father but a guiding light, a constant presence of strength, wisdom, and unwavering support. He imparted valuable life lessons rooted in love, hard work, and humor, shaping them into the men they are today.

Stephen’s impact extended beyond his family through his dedicated involvement in youth sports in Northern Kentucky. As a respected member of the Erlanger Lions and the Northern Kentucky Football League, Stephen nurtured the character and sportsmanship of young athletes, leaving an indelible mark on generations. His contributions were recognized with memberships in the Erlanger Lions Youth Sports Hall of Fame and the Northern Kentucky Football League Hall of Fame—a testament to his lasting influence.

Visitation to honor Stephen will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, followed by a funeral service on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location. Stephen will find eternal rest at Highland Cemetery Chapel in Ft. Mitchell.

In memory of Stephen’s generous spirit, contributions may be made to The ALS Association or the Erlanger Lions Club, causes that held profound significance for him.

Though Stephen will be deeply missed, his steadfast love, enduring lessons, and unwavering support have left an indelible legacy in the hearts and lives of those he touched.
