Thomas Massie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, recently shared a series of statements on social media addressing U.S. foreign policy, election legislation, and congressional procedures.
On August 15, 2025, Massie posted: “Instead of accepting refugees from Gaza, the United States should quit giving munitions to Israel to create refugees.”
The following day, August 16, he commented on the 2020 election process and his opposition to related federal funding: “Ironically, the nationwide mail-in election of 2020 was funded by the 2020 CARES Act, and I was the only one in Congress who tried to stop it. At the time the President called me a ‘third rate grandstander’ for my opposition to that terrible bill which also caused inflation.”
On August 17, Massie addressed legislative practices in Congress: “Here’s why we should only vote on single issue bills: https://t.co/1JdMcYmWKT”
Massie’s career in public service began after earning a degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993. He previously served as Lewis County Judge Executive before joining Congress. Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1971 and currently residing in Garrison at age 52, Massie has been an advocate for procedural reforms and fiscal conservatism during his tenure.
