Northern Kentucky University reported on Apr. 11 that its men’s and women’s track and field teams won a total of 11 events at the Norse Track Invitational, which it hosted on Saturday with participation from 14 programs.
The event highlighted strong performances by NKU athletes, setting several school records and achieving top finishes in both men’s and women’s competitions. This success marks a significant achievement for the university’s track and field program during its home meet.
In the men’s events, Brenden Athan set a new NKU record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08 seconds. Bash Hedger broke his own school and freshman records by winning the 100-meter dash in 10.78 seconds. The team also saw victories from Micah Ward in the triple jump, Colton O’Hara in the mile run, Nathan Ruth in the 800-meter run, Camden Paulick in discus throw, and their relay squad taking first place in the men’s 4×100 meters.
On the women’s side, NKU’s relay team won both the 4×400 meter (3:51.44) and the 4×100 meter (47.15) relays. Cameron Bittermann led a sweep of podium positions for NKU women in both sprints—the team took first through third places in both the women’s 100- and second place finishes were achieved by Meredith Goff across multiple events as well as Lacey Klare’s win in hurdles.
Other notable performances included Olivia Kennedy’s victory in the women’s 400-meter dash, Kaitlyn Strange winning the women’s 5000 meters, Grace Biddle breaking an outdoor program record with her second-place finish in the mile (5:00.48), along with additional top-three placements across jumps and throws.
