Northern Kentucky University Norse men’s basketball announced on April 25 the signing of transfer guard Eric Acker, marking the team’s second addition in the spring of 2026. Acker, a 6-foot-2 guard from East New York, New York, has played three seasons at the collegiate level and most recently competed for La Salle.
The team said that Acker was identified as a priority as soon as he entered the transfer portal. Head coach Darrin Horn said, “We targeted Eric immediately when he went into the portal. Eric is a dynamic guard who brings great competitive energy that we believe will not only fit great in our system, but will have a major impact on both ends. We are confident that with the freedom he will have in our offense, he will experience great growth as a scorer and playmaker for others. He was a New York City champion in high school and brings us an element of toughness that has been so essential to our success.”
Acker began his college career at Long Island University where he earned Northeast Conference All-Freshman honors after starting 21 out of 26 games during his first season. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game while playing over 33 minutes per contest. During his freshman year, Acker achieved several milestones including scoring a career-high 28 points against Le Moyne and recording an 18-point, 11-assist double-double.
After transferring to La Salle for two seasons, Acker made appearances in 44 games with eleven starts and posted averages of 5.6 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game overall while shooting nearly forty percent from the field.
Before college basketball, Acker played at Eagle Academy for Young Men II in Brooklyn where he surpassed one thousand career points and led his league in assists while guiding his team to its first borough and city championships.
