Northern Kentucky University Norse women’s basketball announced on April 30 the signing of Swedish forward Sara Basaran as its third addition for the 2026 offseason.
The announcement highlights Basaran’s achievements at Collin College in Texas, where she played two seasons and started in 41 out of 62 appearances. In the most recent season, she led her team in minutes, points per game, field goal percentage, rebounds, and blocks. Basaran averaged 13.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 47.4 percent from the field and was named to the NJCAA Third Team All-American.
Head coach Jeff Hans said, “Sara brings a versatility and competitive edge from Collin College that will immediately impact our program. She found both individual and team success there, consistently producing while playing a key role in her team’s achievements. Sara impacts the game across multiple statistical categories, contributing as a scorer, rebounder, and playmaker, which makes her a true all-around presence on the floor.”
Basaran also earned Region 5 All-Conference honors during her sophomore year and recorded six double-doubles over the season. She set a career-high with 25 points in one game against Cisco College and posted a personal best of 15 rebounds against Southwestern Christian.
Before joining Collin College, Basaran competed for club teams Malbas and Norrköping Dolphins in Sweden. She is originally from Malmö and has experience playing for Sweden’s U20 national team.
Looking ahead to next season, Northern Kentucky adds an experienced player who has shown consistent performance at multiple levels.
